shadow disappearing

Postby alain.roger » Sat Jan 26, 2019 10:52 pm

Hello,

i'm new to inkscape and i'm trying to figure out how to solve my issue.

i wrote a simple text e.g. "arprod" and i duplucated this text object (set a blur effect) to make it a little bit shadowed. However it seems that the canvas is too small as the shadow is truncated as you can see on the screenshot.
Image

If i used the handles, it streches the object and this is not what i want... i just want to increase automatically the canvas to make sure that object is not truncated while using strokes and other things.

How can i solve this issue (because till now i did not find a way) ?

thx

Yes, unfortunately sometimes the automatically alotted filter area isn't a good match (btw. there is a drop shadow filter, too, you do not need to set the blur on a copy).

- Select filtered object (blur is a filter, too).
- Open Filters > Filter editor (at the bottom)
- Change the numbers for the filter area (x, y, width, height) until it looks correct on the canvas
Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!

I can understand, but the same issue is even if you do not do a blur/drop shadow...

Please check for clips or masks. If that doesn't help, please share the file.
