Inkscape deletes grids when creating EPS

Postby johanemil » Sun Aug 31, 2014 10:25 am

Hi,

I am trying to create an EPS file using Inkscape.
I have 4 plots saved in one pdf from excel (see attached file).

When I open it in inkscape, I adjust the size (using file - document properties - resize page to drawing or selection) and then save as EPS.
Afterwards I import the EPS into lyx - my final document.

The problem is, that the grids on the lower three plots are deleted - but are still there in the first plot!
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks very much in advance.

Best,
Johan

I would open the pdf in Inkscape, select all, and click the ungroup button until the status bar reports no groups. It seems to export eps ok here after that.

Also,
If you look at the page in Inkscape using the outline mode (menu: View>Display mode>outline ), you can see three large objects that may be un-needed.
After un-grouping and deleting any extra objects, Menu:File>Vacuum Defs will remove a large number of un-needed definitions.

Chime back and let us know if that helps...
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

A bonus question: I have the same scenario, however now some of my excel graphs goes beyond the border of the plots. In excel this is no problem - but when I ungroup in Inkscape, the graphs are now shown in their entirety. So there are basically graphs of data series all over the document, overlapping each other.
Any way to solve this?

Thanks :)

Might be possible to clip each of the four... if you can upload the pdf being imported into inkscape, we might be able to test.

Hmmm... I'd check that data.

If the data is sound, I'd just manually edit that path. A clipping box works, except the path is larger than the page and the export seems to get distorted.
