[MacOs] Where to find fonts that come with inscapes

Postby Christophe » Thu Jun 10, 2010 4:15 am

Hello everyone

I have recently installed inkscape to create a logo and i used the font name Cursor.

I really like this font and want to use it with photoshop but cannot find it in my font list (Font Book or photoshop font list). So I presume that the font has not been installed on my system by inkscape.

My question is there a way to export this font from inkscape and install it on my computer so that other program can use it ?

Thank you for your time

  1. Inkscape doesn't have any fonts bundled, it only uses fonts installed on your system
  2. the font 'Cursor' is installed with X11 (foundry: xfree86), but it is a pure glyph font that Inkscape can't correctly render. What you see on screen is the default fallback font (usually Bitstream Vera Sans, on OS X it also comes with X11)
Bitstream Vera Sans can be downloaded as TTF fonts e.g. from the Gnome ftp site.

If you see different fonts on-canvas in Inkscape comparing 'Cursor' to 'Bitstream Vera Sans', can you attach a screenshot? My answer is based on what I have available as fonts with Inkscape 0.47 on Mac OS X 10.5.8.

Thank you very much for your answer.

You were indeed right Bitstream Vera Sans was rendered instead of CURSOR
