Hello forum, this is my first post here.
I am looking into replacing Adobe illustrator/Fireworks with Inkscape, so I've downloaded it (I'm on Ubuntu) and started it up. But I had to stop right away because as much as I try, I cannot get any box to snap to the grid I've created. Is there any magic setting for this? I'm out of ideas, I've looked around but found no solution to this, it looks like a bug but maybe it's just me.
Thanks!
Snap box to grid
Re: Snap box to grid
Welcome aboard!
So you opened the document's properties tab (Ctrl+Shift+D), and created a new grid.
There is an option of snap to grid, which, is set by default.

After the grid is set up, you have to enable snapping of the parts.
At the snap bar, enable snapping of the nodes and the edges of the bounding box.

But remember that if you have a stroke with the width out of the grid's measure,
your drawing may not be able to be "fully" fitted on the grid.
