Good morning,
I am working with Inkscape in Linux, with charts and graphs for a scientific article.
I am asked to send the figures in .ai or .eps Vector (editable) format.
My problem: When I save and image in .eps format and then I open it again with Inkscape, the figure IS NOT vectorial anymore. But the journal needs EDITABLE figures, and does not accept .svg format files.
One solution I found is working with AI (in Machintosh), opening the .svg original vectorial files and editing them again. I have to correct file by file a lot of characteristics that AI does not recognize from the .svg file = A LOT OF WORK. And also, I am working with a not-free software, which I don't like absolutely.
Is there somebody that can help me? Or my problem has no solution?
Thank you very much!
Vicky
Save .eps as a REAL vector file
Re: Save .eps as a REAL vector file

Welcome Vicky!
As far as I know, if you make the image entirely within inkscape, and it has no raster content, the EPS file created by Inkscape will be vector. That's my understanding, but I could be wrong.
If you're using Inkscape on a Mac, and you paste something, it becomes a raster object, because of a bug in the software. Here's info on using iNkscape with a Mac: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... fic_issues

Re: Save .eps as a REAL vector file
as long as you don't use blur and/or filters then it should be fine.
