I want to draw, for example, a rectangle 800 x 140 px. I know I can start with the pointer at 0, 0 and look at the X: and Y: values in the lower right-hand corner to achieve that size, but that is quite tedious.
Is there a way to input 800 x 140 and create a rectangle that size without having to manually draw it?
Thank you!
How to draw a shape of a specific size?
Re: How to draw a shape of a specific size?

Welcome to InkscapeForum!
"...without having to manually draw it?" Only if you know how to write SVG code using XML, lol! You can set a specific size for a rectangle, but you have to draw it first. Just draw a rectangle of any size. Switch to the selection tool, and look at the control bar (right above horizontal ruler). There are fields for X and Y, if you want to set the position of the rectangle or any object. Inkscape aligns the bottom left corner of the bounding box to the X and Y values. The H and W are for height and width, and those will set the dimensions of your object. Actually, I just realized that you can set the H and W while you still have the Rectangle tool engaged. Just look at the control bar while Rect. tool is engaged. I guess I just prefer using the Selection tool, but either one works. But you do have to draw it first

THANK YOU for your clear and concise answer. I've struggle for better than half an hour to
figure this one out. Noob is as Noob does, I guess!
