The fill color doesn't work properly

Postby tirengarfio » Fri Mar 29, 2013 12:48 am

Hi,

when i create a box, it doesn't have any fill color.

The fill color indicator is divided in two parts: the left one is transparent (there are small squares) and the right one has a color.

Any help?

Hi.

You have most likely set a gradient fill if your status looks something like this;
Image

To correct - with square selected - right click on a color in the color palette under the canvas.
Select Set Fill

EDIT Start;
If it looks like this however; See XAV's post!! (Shame on me!! :) )

Edit End

Another method - Use Shift + Ctrl + F to bring up the "Fill and Stroke Dialog - Click the filled square "Flat Color";

See the online manual and tutorials as well, worth going through to learn some of Inkscape.

I don't think this is a gradient thing, but rather an opacity problem. I suspect that the "alpha" channel for your fill colour is set to zero (or close to it). There are two quick solutions:

1) Right click on the fill colour indicator and select "Make fill opaque" to change the alpha value to 255

OR

2) Click on the fill colour indicator to open the Fill and Stroke dialogue. Select the Fill tab and adjust the position of the "A" slider.
