Hi everyone. New to the forum.
I did some image work last week and now I am having problems viewing a path. I set the path's opacity to 0 because I wanted to keep it in place after exporting the page so that I could export another image on the same background. Now when I open the file the opacity is set to 100% but I can't see the path. The fill and stroke are labeled as unset so I though that maybe they just needed to be reset however when I set them as solid colors nothing happens. Was I not supposed to save the file with the path opacity set to 0?
Problem viewing a path
Re: Problem viewing a path
I wonder if you could clarify your question some? Because of course if you set the opacity to zero, you won't be able to see it! I don't know why it would show as 100% opacity with fill and stroke unset, unless you have it grouped with something else? Or maybe you don't have the selection quite right?

I set the opacity to zero so that I couldn't see it however when I reopened the file later and the opacity was set at 100 and I couldn't see it. I will have to check if I grouped it with something else. Something went wrong in the process of setting the opacity to zero, saving and then reopening the file so that adjusting the opacity and/or fill of the path has no effect.
Re: Problem viewing a path
Are you sure you have correctly selected the path, as It sounds to me like you have selected a group of the path. Let me explain that... (note that I don't like how inkscape deals with 0% objects, as it tends to be too hard
)
When you select the your path and it says Unset/Unset in the fill+stroke boxes, does it say to the right of the layer selector box something like:
Path (10 nodes) in layer...
if it does not say that, and says something like: Group of 1 object in layer ... then you have not selected the path itself. You will need to enter the group (or just ungroup it). To enter the group press Ctrl+Enter on your keyboard, the layer selector box will say something like #g1234;
you will then have to select your object again (either drag around the path with the select tool or use ctrl+a, to select everything in the group.
hope that helps
