Can adjustments be made where the Path Effect Editor is used

Postby Kento » Sat Mar 03, 2012 5:07 am

Is it possible to perfom minor adjustment to the attached, most particullarly kerning the letters where the "Path Effect Editor" was used to acheive the bend. I am asking because when I bring the design to the cutter as an eps file for some reason the letters appears as if they have gotten closer, in fact to close to be totally legible from a distance. However the only way I know how to make adjustmement is to ungroup everything & start all over again. It is rather fustrating to delete the text every time & start all over again. I am sure that there ought to be an easier way to kern these letters but just don't know how. Can someone please tell how to do this or direct me to where I can research this.Regards Ken & thank you for the support.

Once text is converted to path, which is needed for Path effects to be applied, it acts like path and not like text anymore.
Might be easier if you use text placed on path.

Type your text, then create simple line :tool_pen: with two or as much needed points/nodes and make desired curvature - finally, select both (path and text), go to Text / Put on Path - et voila! ,) This way text will remain editable as text (meaning you may change font, size, kerning.. etc) while still on curved path.
:tool_zoom: <<< click! - but, those with a cheaper tickets should go this way >>> :!:

Sometimes you do need to convert the text to path. For example, conversion from SVG to some formats cannot handle text. In that case, it's a good idea to keep a copy of the text as text, either outside the image border, or on a hidden layer. That way, if you have to start over, you don't have to re-type and re-kern the text.
