Hello
Everything is in the title. I import some eps graphs in inkscape, I add a few letters with the text tool but when I export it into eps, the text disappears...
I have tried/checked the following :
- the text is well present when saved in svg or exported to png or pdf (but this is not an option for me)
- I have only one layer and the text is in 100% opacity
- I have transformed the text to paths (paths / object to path)
- I have tried flowed and regular text
- I have tried different options for the eps export (ie transform text to path or not, rasterize or not, postscript level 2 or 3)
- the letters are also missing when exporting in ps
- the text is missing when re-opened with inkscape or viewed with evince or imported in scribus or OpenOffice.org writer
- the problem seems to be the same with other objects / shapes (spiral, oval,..)
- I tried to group the text with the graphs, to place the text at the fore ground and to place a white rectangle at the background
- my figure size is smaller than an A4
- I'm working with inkscape 0.48 under ubuntu 10.10
It would be nice if somebody could help ...
Text missing after eps export
Re: Text missing after eps export
Possibly an issue occurring with later cairo versions (>= 1.10), as reported in
- Bug #645256 in Inkscape: “Incomplete picture when saving in eps”
- Bug #694553 in Inkscape: “Save a copy...EPS fails when many paths”

Re: Text missing after eps export
Ungroup all objects before you save.
Pretty simple. I have no idea why it works, but it's worked consistently for me.
I just remembered the solution when I ran into the problem again today.
Cheers!

The ungrouping did not work for me
Howerver, what worked for me: I created a new layer and moved the text which was not showing up in the EPS to this layer. Then it was showing up in the exported EPS file.
