Using 48, Inkscape (MaC OSX) crashes, if I try to drag-drop a color onto the fill box in the main view screen (lower-left area).
It also crashes if I click on the box in the upper right and try to adjust the stroke and fill there too.
I have been doing a work around, by just bringing up the Fill & Stroke window and making my adjustments there and no problem.
I am quite sure I had no trouble doing this back in 47 & 46.
Has something been changed with this, does anyone else notice this, or is it just me and perhaps a UI problem with my X11 setup?

Tested with Inkscape 0.47 and 0.48 on Mac OS X 10.5.8, Xquartz 2.4.0:
Which Mac OS X version are you using, and which X11/Xquartz version?
Could you attach the crash report (you can find it for 'inkscape-bin' in 'Home > Library > Logs > CrashReporter' or 'Home > Library > Logs > DiagnosticReports' (depending on your OS X version)? Please verify to get the most recent report (the files use date and time stamps in the file name).

No crash here: it opens the preferences dialog with the pane of the current tool and allows to take fill/color from the current selection. This crash when clicking on a color swatch there happened with 0.46, but was fixed a long time ago for 0.47 (the color swatches in the preferences pane are no longer clickable or adjustable). I am using OSX 10.4.11 on my trusty G4 MDD and my X11 info box says "X11 1.0 - XFree86 4.4.0" And, Yes I am Indeed running Inkscape 0.48
Note; I always had a problem with updating X11 for my Tiger OS. Even after I applied the updates they didn't "take". So, that in itself, could be the root of my problem. I am stuck at 1.0.
I could never seem to even get to 1.1 which btw is required in order to apply the 1.1.3 update, as I recall.
Nevertheless, I still had pretty good success with Inkscape 46 & 47. No crashes at all. Drag-Drops all worked well.
The Xquartz file in my /usr/X11R6/bin folder does not seem to indicate a version number, but the creation date is Nov. 6, 06, which sounds pretty old.
I have been to the xquartz.macosforge.org page but, can't seem to figure out if I have the appropriate version or not.

Note; I always had a problem with updating X11 for my Tiger OS. Even after I applied the updates they didn't "take". So, that in itself, could be the root of my problem. I am stuck at 1.0.
I could never seem to even get to 1.1 which btw is required in order to apply the 1.1.3 update, as I recall.
Nevertheless, I still had pretty good success with Inkscape 46 & 47. No crashes at all. Drag-Drops all worked well.
The Xquartz file in my /usr/X11R6/bin folder does not seem to indicate a version number, but the creation date is Nov. 6, 06, which sounds pretty old.
I have been to the xquartz.macosforge.org page but, can't seem to figure out if I have the appropriate version or not.

Did you upgrade from Panther amd still have the X11 package from Panther installed? X11 1.1 is on the installation disks of Tiger [1], once it is installed, you can use Software Update to get the upgrade to the current X11 1.1.3 for Mac OS X Tiger.

I actually don't recall ever using Panther on my G4 here but I still have all the Tiger Install disks and I DO recall installing the optional installs to get X11 and it Indeed just installs X11 1.0.
Just to be sure, I just now re-installed it and it installs 1.0 and it said successful install.
I have been through this a dozen times over the past year or so and have never found a solution. I have googled my brains numb about it, and have even run across others who have had the same dilemma, & apple unix support forum, ...... no help.
I even dug inside the X11 Package installers on the Tiger CD install CD and all references are to 1.0
I may find the solution some day but have not been very lucky with it.
