Bezier Tool Creating Words

Postby lostinvectographics » Sun Sep 23, 2018 11:14 am

I searched the forum and I could not find anything similar to what I'm experiencing.

I'm trying to create 3D lettering and the tutorial I'm following duplicates the text then lowers it and connects the two sets of words with the bezier tool and then union them so all the space between the lettering becomes solid.. creating the 3D look.

Well when I do my lines with the bezier tool and complete the circle instead of having my outline there it instantly has a copy of my text in a weird funky pattern inside my shape.

Is there a setting I have selected without knowing it that is causing this to happen? There is no outline of my path I made, just the text inside the area and the letters are all jacked up.

Any help will be appreciated.

Could you please provide a screenshot and a maybe a link to the tutorial you are following?

Yeah, definitely a link to the tutorial. If it's a video, please tell us the time stamp about where you're stuck. If it's text and has steps, please tell us the step number.

Although....it sounds like your Bezier tool might be configured in a non-default way. Unless the tutorial tells you to do something different, make sure you have this button selected on the control bar (the bar immediately above the horizontal ruler) - Image. And for the "Shape:" dropdown menu, make sure it's set for "None".

That is exactly what was happening. It was selected as the shape from the clipboard and I just never noticed that setting there. I had been trying hard to find a way to clear my clipboard to make it stop but selecting none was the fix I needed!!

Thanks so much!
