Hello, I have Inkscape 0.47 (the latest stable release) on a Windows 7 computer. Whenever I try saving a file as a .wmf file, a black window opens (it says it's Inkscape\python\python.exe) and nothing happens. It creates a .wmf file, but that file is corrupt or something because I can't import it into a MS Office (Word) file.
I can save as an .emf file, I know, but that doesn't preserve all elements of my drawing. My drawings are very simple, but it still doesn't work. (I had drawn a simple rectangle that was filled with one color and had a border (stroke) of another color. But in the .emf file I opened in Word, only the fill portion of the rectangle showed up.)
I would appreciate any help you could give me. I searched this forum, but I just found people advising Windows users to save files as .wmf, which I would very much like to do!
saving as .wmf
Re: saving as .wmf
Save as a native svg unless you need the wmf for some reason.

Re: saving as .wmf
Maybe it's a PATH issue, Inkscape can't find your python installation.

Re: saving as .wmf
Well, I need .wmf files to import into Word (as I said in my original post). What can I do about this PATH issue? And if Inkscape couldn't find my python installation, wouldn't that affect a whole host of features of the software? (I assume more than the .wmf converter is written in python). But everything else works OK. Is anyone else on Windows having this problem?
ETA: I may be experiencing something related to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/491213
Although, in my case I am trying to generate a .wmf file in Inkscape itself (not modify it). It seems to have "Medium" importance, so maybe it will be fixed? For now I will fiddle around with other formats (unless someone knows a workaround or can help me with the .emf format -- although, now I'm seeing that that problem might be related to this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/487410).

Re: saving as .wmf
I've just tried saving a simple image (a stroked and filled rectangle) as WMF and as EMF, and the resulting files look OK in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. I haven't got Word, so I can't test them with that.
If you could post an SVG file that you're having trouble with, together with the WMF and EMF files that Inkscape produces from it, it may help determine what the problem is.
