Slider Corner Banner Help

Am trying to put together a few banner slides for use with Nivo Slider and wish to add some corner messages; like below:

how would I go about creating the look please ? any help gratefully received.

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

I'm not familiar with that product, and I'm not sure what you mean by "slides". I did a quick search, and it looks like slider might be a certain way to have an image displayed, it looks like it loads from left to right rather than top to bottom. Is that what you mean? Inkscape does not have any means of making that slider appearance. But it can certainly make the little corner ribbon with text.

I'm pretty sure that effect with the text is called "embossed" and Inkscape does have some emboss filters, which would do that automatically. But in my exerience they don't do as good of a job as drawing it from scratch (as they say). It's fairlly simple :D Here's how I would do it.

Well actually, since we've had a few requests for embossed text lately, I made up a quick tutorial viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12962. The rest should be simple enough, making the ribbon. But if you have trouble, let us know :D
