I follow SVG animation on Inkscape roadmap probably from version 0.46
I'm a supporter of standards, and SVG is becoming a real widespread one.
Now that Microsoft support SVG animation and interaction in iE9
http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/
is becoming more important to have a free crossplatform editor to create contents.

I posted my notes about animation past in this forum, but I received answer moving implementation to 0.48, than to 0.49, and now maybe later.

I think the ideas are very valid, and I want to encourage to develop the analog timeline UI for 0.49
