Help with python needed for Effects on Mac

Postby artguy10 » Sat Aug 11, 2007 6:46 am

Hi,
I'm using a dev version of Inkscape on my (intel) Mac. I wanted to do some of the things in the Effects menu, but when I click on something, I get a message which says, "The fantabulous lxml wrapper for libxml2 is required by inkex_lxml.py and therefore this extension. Please download the latest version from <http://cheeseshop.python.org/pypi/lxml/>," or similar. I went to the Inkscape download page, downloaded the python, extracted the folders and put them in the appropriate folder (according to the dmg file), but that didn't help. Even when I have everything set as a path, it happens. What am I doing wrong? By the way, I'm not sure what file to download from the website it gave; is the one on Inkscape.com not good enough? What is the exact file I need to download for Intel Mac running Tiger, and where exactly should I put the files? Anything else I should know?

Hello Artguy,

Just to say it's possible to get the effects working on macintel. I've been a long time searching for the right plugin, but now, i cannot remember witch one it was. I will search again and tell you asap.

edit : perhaps with the intel python package on this page :

artguy10:

i use windows, so i'm not much help, but if you cant get it working, i suggest hitting the inkscape-devel list with your question.
