Best process for exporting to bitmap

Postby mickeydog » Mon Apr 07, 2014 12:23 am

I have a png file. I need to bring it in as vector image, then export to a bitmap, so I can have it in various sizes. Attached is an svg with the original bitmap to the left of the page and in the page itself, my attempt at vectorizing it (using Trace Bitmap). Is this the best that can be had? Or is it possible to get more detail?

Hi.

Your "Trace bitmap" is good - to improve it try select all - go to the stroke and fill and set filter to approx 1.
This will blur the steps but it will also decrease the sharpness of the image.
To really "improve" the image you will have to start with a higher resolution image as input.
Inkscape (or any other program) can not add details which does not exist in the original.

If you know what the original "amobae" looks like you can add the details manually.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have any better images than this. At least its good to know I've done the best with what I have.
