Apologies if this is not the correct Thread in which to post my problem.

I have the 0.48.4 version of Inkscape and I'm having trouble with the nodes. I can't seem to get node handles. Is this a known problem and if so how do I resolve it please in non-technical language.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition.

Couldn't find another screenshot of the node tool active, so here it goes:


Note on the node toolbar the active icon next to the one on the right, enabling the display of the node handles.
-On the image the segments of the path are straight, so there are no handles to be displayed.-
Probably you just have to click on that icon.

Hi thanks for your reply. However maybe I'm not explaining properly. Your screen shot is fine and shows what I get, but when you click on a node you should be able to get drag handles shooting out from the sides of the nodes and it's these which seem to have disappeared and I can't get them no matter what I try.

If the segments are curved, and the show node handles option is enabled -icon toggled-.

Try to change segments to be curved ones and/or change node types to be smooth ones, to make sure you have handles that should be displayed.

Or did I miss something?

It's probably me that can't explain properly rather than you missing something. All I know is I used to be able to get secondary handles to a node which allowed me to fine tune as it were the curves or shapes independently on either side of the node.
Thanks for your help anyway. If the worst comes to the worst I'll uninstall and try a re-install to see if that fixes things.

I'm sure it's just related to that untoggled icon in the node tool's toolbar on the right.

Thank you so much Lazur URH for your patience with me. On your screen shot I was so busy looking at the items with your red arrows pointing to them that I completely missed the icon on the toolbar far right and of course that is indeed the problem. Now resolved thanks to you.
