For the last couple of years, I've been the only active moderator here. Since I may be away from the forum for 24 to 48 hours at a time, it really makes sense to have another moderator on board. Plus I'll be spending more time on my own website (which will "go live" probably within the next few months) although I'll still be active here

So if anyone is interested, here's what the position generally entails:

• The 1st two messages by every new member must be read. Depending on the content of the message, you need to decide whether to approve, disapprove, flag or ban. There's a nice little control panel which you'll be given access to, to facilitate everything.
• At least scan through all the other new messages, whether you answer them or not. There are several reasons for doing that, some of which are obvious, and others we can discuss later.

Qualifications -- be an active member, dedicated to Inkscape, and with time to spare. Also good to have a thick skin, and not quick to anger.

I'm actually thinking it might be appropriate to add 2 new mods, but I'll discuss it with microUgly. Meanwhile, if anyone is interested, please PM me (brynn) and microUgly

All it takes for a forum to go downhill is for some wacko to become moderator. We've been amazingly lucky in this forum to have had two very sane and stable moderators for such a long time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

2? I guess maybe 3, including the admin, microUgly. But I haven't heard from prkos in ages, lol. And of course, officially, there are a few moderators. Simarilius hasn't been around for quite a while either. And even before that....I'd have to search the member list, but there are a couple of others as well.

But no worries druban. I'll be involved in the decision, and you know I have this forum's best interest, in heart and mind. Plus, I'll still be here as often as I am now. I just think there have been some gaps now and then, when new messages don't get approved in a very timely manner
