Nothing happened after clicking "Save as"

Postby monnand » Wed Aug 08, 2012 7:14 am

Hi,

I am using inkscape on windows. Once I clcked Save As... (or use Sift+Ctrl+S), there is nothing pop up. In fact, everything was unchanged, like silent. There supposed to be some window or something so that I can choose the directory and other stuff.

I just want to convert my .svg file to .pdf. Any idea?

Thanks!

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

This is probably a bug with Windows, which occurs when a file is originally saved to a root directory, such as C:\\ or a flash drive, for example. It's been fixed, in the next stable release, which is still not quite ready to be released. My theory is that moving the file into a folder, might allow the Save As dialog to show up. But I don't really know if that will work. No one who has posted a message about this problem has ever returned to say if they were able to fix it. Let me see if I can find a link to that bug, so you can have all the info currently available....

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it at Launchpad. Maybe they move fixed bugs somewhere else? I'll try searching forum.... Ok, finally found it: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/805095. (I would have saved a link to the bug, except that I thought 0.48.3 would be out by now.)

Another solution might be to go back and use 0.48.1 until 0.48.3 is released (which to my knowledge, is still expected by the end of this year).

brynn, Really appreciate!

It is correct that I stored under my F: drive. Once I put it into a folder, everything works fine!

Thank you very much!
