Fill a 'segmented' shape

Postby atari_ckx » Fri Feb 21, 2014 9:54 am

Hi, new on InkScape (and new on the forums), I'm feeling very good using this great program for my simple drawings ... I've a problem, draw an image and filled it with a color (Blue color for the image and brown the fill), but I realized I want to draw a "pail" or bucket; so I drew a new line (black) and tryied to break the image's original upper line with the recently drawn line (see sample1), just to create a different fill color for the 'content' of the bucket and another color for the bucket's exterior ... As you can see on "sample.png" I can't do that.

I tryied to break the nodes near the 'bucket's top' and then join with the new line, but I can't do that ... any clues?

Thanks and sorry for my english :-(

If you are using the fill and stroke dialog then the fill only works for entirely closed shapes in a predictable manner. You might try using the bucket tool :tool_paintbucket: to fill a region. This tool has settings in the top control bar that you need to pay attention to to get it to work properly, so take your time and experiment with it.
Your mind is what you think it is.
