Hi everyone,
I want to move a group of objects away from the center of the group without increasing the size of any of the grouped objects. Is this possible to do in Inkscape without moving each of the objects manually?
Moving objects from center

Welcome to InkscapeForum!
It's not possible that I know of. But if it is possible, don't worry, others will tell you how

Re: Moving objects from center
Well yes,but you'll have to do some math!
In the transform dialog there is a box for 'apply to each object separately'. This means that the opposite applies the transform to the group as a single entity.
Scale up WITHOUT this box checked, then scale down by the inverse amount (you'll have to figure out the inverse amount and enter it here*) WITH this box checked, there might be some rounding but it's pretty accurate.
The goemetric solution is to draw a polygon with a vertex at the center of each object, scale this polygon and snap the objects to the vertices again. Not practical if you hve a large number of objects.

Off topic:
*The inverse is figured by dividing 1 by the scaling amount. this is just a little more complicated because of the % in the dialog. scaling up 150% is actually scaling 1.5 times. The inverse is 1/1.5. You can also think about it as 100%/150%. In any case you have to do the division and convert it back to a %. E.g. 2/3 = 0.6667 = 66.67%

Your mind is what you think it is.

Thanks for the welcome brynn.
That works great, Druban, thank you.

I'm not sure if I understand the question properly, but perhaps the ">" key will help (after selecting the objects you want to move). Use "<" to move them towards each other if you overshoot.
