Dear all,
I know this question has been asked before, but I cannot open/import eps files in inkscape (version 0.48).
I did insert ghostscript (version 0.9.5) bin en lib into the path (environmental variables), but it still doesn't work
I'm running windows xp
Thanks for any help!

Re: open eps files in inkscape 0.48 (ghostscript 0.9.5)

Welcome to InkscapeForum!
Just for the record, are you getting any particular error messages? If so, would you please post them verbatim?
I have saved this message. Maybe it will help. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8797&view=unread#p39309
If not, please tell us exactly what you've done, and exactly what happens? (for example, nothing happens, Inkscape crashes, file opens but missing content, error message, etc.)

Re: open eps files in inkscape 0.48 (ghostscript 0.9.5)
HI,
Sorry for my late reply, I didn't seem to have received an email that someone had replied.Probably it winded up somewhere in my spam :/
I changed the "32" for "64" as was suggested in the post you referred to, but I still get the same message,i.e.
Failed to load the required file "file location"...
This happens when I import an eps file, without this option being available in the list. I just select "all files" and try to open the image...
Thank you!

Re: open eps files in inkscape 0.48 (ghostscript 0.9.5)
and on a potentially related matter:
I have problems saving the image I created in inkscape as an eps (which is required for submission to journals). If I then open it in Illustrator, several sections (axis labels and fitted regression lines) have disappeared. Maybe I should post this as a separate question?
regards
Ellen

Alright, this is a workaround but try dragging-n-dropping the eps file onto/into Scribus and then export that to an svg file.

Or, you can save as an eps in inkscape, close it, and view it in ghost viewer (free pgm that goes along with ghost script). that's what I do.
