1) I am able to use the tool for drawing straight lines and shape.. this is fine
2) When trying to draw bezier curves and when done, it is turning into different shape.... need more understanding
Why curves are turning into different shapes? Can somebody point me to right material or help me understand this?

Probably you are (unintentionally) drawing in Spiro mode - see e.g. this earlier reply to a related question: Re: Trouble dragging curved segments
