Hi
Earlier tonight, I posted a message in the Help Using Inkscape forum. I just went back to check for replies, and can't find it anywhere. I used my profile, to display all my messages, and it's not there at all.
Then, I just came to this forum, and posted a message about my missing message topic.
Next, I went back to the Help Using Inkscape forum and posted the missing message topic for the 2nd time. I apologize if the other turns up, resulting in duplicates.
But then, I came back here to edit my message reporting the missing one. I was going to Edit it, adding that I had replaced it. And darned if my message topic in THIS forum, about my missing messsage topic, is nowhere to be found!!!
WHOA!! Is someone playing with my head?!!
Missing message topics!!

Re: Missing message topics!!
Ok, I'm hoping posting a reply will make this one less likely to disappear.
Also, on the main forum index page, where Active Topics are listed along with Inactive Topics, I see that both my Missing Message Topics appear, one in the active list, one in the inactive list. But only one is appearing to me in this forum.

Re: Missing message topics!!
And now, there is only ONE Missing message topic left, that in the Active Topics area. The one in the Inactive list has disappeared from the list.
Just in case it ever turns up, or someone wants to look for it, the 1st one I posted was titled "missing message topic", while this one is of course "Missing message topics".
Maybe I'm losing it??

Re: Missing message topics!!
And now, the message topic I replaced in the Help Using Inkscape forum (which is called "how to get color as I want in these shapes") is listed in both the Active Topics and Unanswered Topics! I don't know, maybe that means someone just read it, but didn't reply?
There's a chance I named the 1st one, which disappeared, and the 2nd one, which is still there at the moment, with the exactly identical title. But if it ever shows up, the time it was posted should be different.

You will find that that is the same topic, not your first and second topic. Those lists aren't "Active" and "Inactive", they are "Active" and "Unanswered". A topic can be both "Active" and "Unanswered" if it's new. When someone replies to it it will no longer appear under "Unanswered". Likewise, if nobody replies it will stay under "Unanswered" and eventually fade from "Active".
I really can't explain why the topic you originally posted in help and the topic you originally posted here to report about the original post in help

Are you sure the topics were successfully posted (i.e. when you submitted it, were you redirected to it for viewing?). If something went wrong with the website code I should be able to find traces of the threads in the database. I'll take a look shortly.
Please report any other anomalies so I can properly track the cause.
Re: Missing message topics!!
Any chance you've clicked "Save" instead of "Submit"?
Re: Missing message topics!!
It's always possible I messed up somewhere along the line. It's happened before, and I'm sure it will happen again, in my internet use. But I've also witnessed message topics disappearing, as a moderator on a different forum (using different....software). So I know you'd want to know about it, as the admin.
I'm fairly certain I was redirected back to what I had posted. I did NOT look at the index though, to see them in the list. Once I got the initial redirect to what I had posted, I went on to whatever I did next.
And again, it's possible I clicked Save, just because it's there. Plus, I can be mouse-challeneged, at times. But I've never clicked Save before, because I'm not really sure what its purpose it. So probably not.
I know it's frustrating for me, because I can't go back and double check what I did....well, I don't think I can....can I? Would there be some way to retrace my steps, through some kind of log on my end, or something like that? Or maybe, can the browsing Historoy be used for something like that?
In any case, my self-doubt meter tipped towards reporting it, at risk of embarassment. I thought better to let you know that there might be a problem, than play it safe and save face, lol!

Re: Missing message topics!!
Yes, definitely better to have a false report than no report at all. I haven't had a chance to look at the DB but I will.
