EPS-files and GPL GS 9.07

Postby Scapebable » Tue Aug 06, 2013 6:39 pm

Hi there,
I am trying to open EPS -file with Inkscape and I did it already using GS 9.07 yet.
But suddenly I have a problem with certain EPS - files.
If I open them with Inkscape, they look like "black - inverted - pictures" (attached).
Thanks a lot for your help!

OS: WIN 7 Home Basic; 64 - bit
Inkscape: 0.48.4

Hello,

you uploaded the same image three times, which is only a png image, and not the eps.
From that it looks you ran into some transparency issues.
Eps cannot handle transparency, gradients, filters, and maybe
some of the black shapes had some alpha/transparency/ or blurring, gradients somewhere in the original file, before the save as eps.
I think you cannot open it as you would like to appear, as that data is lost.

HI Lazarus,

oh yes, I did... I tried to upload the EPS, but is not allowed.
Attached this time the original - file (JPG) I tried to open.
So there is no way to open it correctly with Inkscape?

Thanks for reply!

Hi,

you can attach any format if it's zipped first, or can post a dropbox link.

Now I am a bit confused on the original file you have, if it's a raster, or a vector one.
That jpg example shows some heavy compression, and that the gradients got rasterised at a lower resolution.
You can import that to inkscape, but tracing it right would take quite some time.
