delete page, cut offs

Postby HelpThanks » Sun Dec 19, 2010 9:52 am

Hello, 2 questions.

1. I have a header (svg vector) that was very big. I import into inkscape and resize it. The thing is, the page lines are set to about 750 but I re-sized the header to about say 850 so when I upload it, it's cut off. How do I eliminate the page lines so I can make any size I need?

2. Also at the same time there is a whitespace that surrounds the header, it represents the original size of the header, how do i remove that?

Thanks...much appreciated.

Under Document Properties you can make the Page size fit the drawing size.

Is the white space actually an object or just empty space? if it's empty space it will be taken care of when you fit the Page size to the drawing. If it's an object simply delete it.

It's hard to say more without more details about your case. Are you uploading the SVG file somewhere, or did you export the drawing into PNG?

How do I eliminate the page lines...

What do you mean by "page lines"?

Unless prkos solved your problem? If so, just ignore my question :D

I guess page lines mean the page borders, the size of the Page area actually.

Yes, that's what I mean, I want to do away with borders so that the header does not get cut off. Gonna try to find the document properties and see what happens...

o.k. Thanks very much, I was able to find out about the cutting off & document properties so that problem is now fixed. Now, here is the second problem. The "white space" My research so far says that I should export the image as a bitmap and that would do away with the whitespace problem, however when I do, my computer says that it cannot handle that type of file. So is there a way to get rid of the "whitespace" i.e. make the image transparent saving it as a .png?
