Beginner Help: Creating Simple Logo to use as FB Profile Pic

Postby KeeperOfTheGoal » Fri Oct 07, 2011 2:11 am

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to graphic design and have what I hope is a simple, solvable problem. I've researched it extensively online and tried many different ways to solve the issue, but to no avail.

I have created a very simple logo using Inkscape for a soccer business.
Aftter I export as a .png (attached below) and attempt to upload as a Facebook profile picture, the image is blurry.

I can't figure this out, and after 5 hours of trying various different solution, I come to you.

Please advise how I can maintain my image sharpness as a Facebook profile picture.

Thanks to all for your time,
Matt

Welcome Matt!

The image looks quite crisp in your attachment. Without having the SVG file to examine, I can't be sure. But it looks like we can eliminate a problem in the image, at least for now. Unless there's something in your attachment that I'm not seeing?

You said you exported a PNG, but I see that the image you attached is a JPG. To my understanding, every time you convert the format, you lose a little clarity. So that might be part of the problem. However, the JPG does look pretty good.

You'll have to forgive me not understanding Facebook very well (much at all). When you put your image on the page, do you know if it goes into a frame of any kind? Like I'm talking about an.html"smilies" src="images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" />

Brynn,

Thank you very much for the detailed reply.
I'm on the run at the moment put thought it may be best to post the svg before heading out

I don't see any problems with the SVG. The blurriness must be related to the raster format, somehow. Maybe you can comment further regarding my other questions later?
