Trace a line sketch without having 2 paths for line

Postby stNick » Mon Apr 09, 2012 9:30 pm

Hello,
I'm a designer currently using Inkscape as a tool to prepare sketches for a CNC router. To do this, I'm working with the G-code extension from the guys of cnc-club.ru
However, every time I'm trying to trace a sketch, potrace defines 2 paths instead, each one at the edge of the line that was drawn on paper. Of course, tracing the sketch with the bezier tool is a (time consuming) option but it feels like a waste of time to trace something I have already sketched.

So my question, is there a way to remove one of the paths or have the potrace engine to only trace on path over the lines of my sketch?

Welcome to the forum!
I don't know of a way to do this. But I see that you've replied in another recent topic on the same subject, so it seems you already found the answer :D

Yes, although it was not the satisfaction I was looking for unfortunately ;)
but thank you for the help. Hopefully we can get centerline tracing to a new level soon.

I did think of something that might work, emphasizing "might". I posted it in the other topic, so both of you could benefit, potentially viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11836
