Hi -
This is the second time I've used inkscape and last time the text entry worked fine. Now when I type text, weird characters show up. If I type the character f the screen zooms out, then starts entering character '2'. If I enter g, the screen zooms in. Does anybody know how I get out of this mode? I don't see anything in the text section of the manual that touches on this.
I'm running on Mac OS X Leopard.
Thank you for any help.
Steve
Can't enter simple text: wrong characters appearing
Re: Can't enter simple text: wrong characters appearing
This may be an X11 problem on my mac. If I open gimp and try to enter text into a drawing, I see similar wrong characters. Wonder how I fix that? I'll look into it . . .
Re: Can't enter simple text: wrong characters appearing
I checked on my Mac at home, which is running the same version of Leopard (10.5.7), gimp (2.4.7), and X11 (XQuartz 2.1.6), and it shows the same wrong characters when I enter text into a drawing. This feels like an X11 problem. What a bummer as I have a presentation to make and need a drawing.

Problem Solved!
I upgraded my version of XQuartz from 2.1.6 to 2.3.3.2 and it solved the problem -- hooray!
