I'm rather new to Inkscape but luckily I am married to a talented programmer who is pretty good at it
But we cannot figure out what is going wrong with our color palette importing! We made a new color palette by just editing an existing one (easiest way to test the technique), and when I open Inkscape it just doesn't see the new palette. I've restarted Inkscape, and it still doesn't see the new palette. It's saved in the same place as the other palettes, it's in the exact same format as all the other palettes, and Inkscape shows me all the other palettes but not the newest one.
Help?
And thanks!
Importing color palettes?
Re: Importing color palettes?
Well, hubby compiled today's inkscape snapshot and now we can see the new color palette. He says it must be a problem with the ubuntu packages.
And, for the record, we both had already done everything we knew how to do (checking manuals and searching the web, etc.) before we came to this forum (I read the note at the top of the forum a/b asking questions intelligently!)

Re: Importing color palettes?
I guess the required trailing empty line was missing. That was some bug in Gimp's original parser, which survived the transition. It got fixed in Gimp first and then in Inkscape.
Also if you use any special characters be sure to save as UTF-8.
