stupid n00b question - please help!

Postby 0ldfart » Mon Mar 22, 2010 4:10 pm

Im trying to export an inkscape image as bitmap.

In the svg file Im working with there is a rectangle in the background. Its the shape that all the inkscape documents start with. I cant select it and cant resize it.

The issue is that the image Im working with has to be a specific size. Only a part of it fits into the rectangle, and the rest overlaps.

When I export as bitmap, the overlapped parts are not included in the image.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Ive been trying to figure this out by watching video tutorials, but none of the ones Ive watched touch on this aspect.

Can anyone help?

How can I export this image at the size I need with this background-rectangle thing?

The best way to get help is to give your topics a meaningful and relevant title. Please edit your original post and change the title.

That is called the "page" area and is the portion of the canvas that will display your image.

I cant select it and cant resize it.

You can set its size under File > Document Properties.

If you select your entire drawing (Ctrl+A) then go to the document properties, you can select the "fit page to selection" button resize the page to fit your drawing exactly.
