Rabbit HX-720 cutter

Postby Wrighty55 » Sun Jan 11, 2015 11:15 am

Hi, I'm brand new to this so bare with me. I'm literally seconds old on this site.

I purchased a hk-720 however my computer will not see the cutter in devices, tried both usb & serial (seperately)

Does anybody have any idea where to go from here or have a hk email address I could contact for more information?

Many thanks for your time and patience

Tom

Hi.

There are a lot of things to do to fault find communication problems between Computer an Peripherals.
As you have tried both serial (which is an "art-form" to get working d.t. pin-outs, handshake, baud rate etc) and USB the problem might be in the HK-720 itself.

Does it have any form of self-diagnostic (like a computer will normally beep at startup if no memory is installed)?

Does your computer "pling" when connecting/disconnecting the usb cable?
Did it install the drivers first time you connected the cutter?

If you are using a Windows machine try to open control panel - device manager and look for your cutter. If found - right-click and check drivers.

Have a look at the manufacturer's web page for contact info; HXLaser

For Drivers - Manuals and Troubleshooting info look here: Downloads
Have a look at this; http://bit.ly/1C1YJKc

Good Luck

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry the first post was so vague it was around 1AM here when originally posted.

The computer will recognise the serial connection and install the driver for the serial to USB adapter but when plugging directly into the USB socket of the HX-720 the computer will not recognise it nor will device manager find it. Yes my computer will "beep" if there is no memory installed. I have however taken the board out noticed a scrape along 4 tracks of the board and noticed the USB socket is a little wobbly so I'm going to bridge the tracks and repair the USB socket, I will in the mean time email the company whilst i repair what I hope will fix the issue.

Thanks again!

Tom
