Hi everyone,
1)What is the best format for Inkscape illustrations/text to be viewed via “You Tube”?
2)What is the best format for Inkscape illustrations/text to be viewed via a DVD?
3)Which movie or slide show program works best with Inkscape illustrations/text (i.e., keeps the original colors, clarity, etc.). For example, is it Moviemaker, iMovie, Simple Viewer, etc.?
Thank you in advance!

In what sense? You can't take anything direct from Inkscape to YouTube, since Inkscape doesn't make videos.
2)What is the best format for Inkscape illustrations/text to be viewed via a DVD?
That would depend on your DVD authoring software. I doubt any would support SVG, so I would save graphics as PNG at the appropriate DVD resolution.

I doubt (but don't know) that any would support SVG, which would make them all equal in that regard. I would look for the one that supports PNG with alpha-transparency. PNG with alpha-transparency is pretty typical these days so they all probably support it.

Hi MicroUgly!
THANK YOU so much for responding.

Oops! I left out a detail or two. I'm intending on uploading a children's book (text/illustrations are all in the same Inkscape image) to Lulu.com and some of the other popular self-publishing websites. In addition to creating a hardbound book, most offer the option of an e-book and DVD; hence the reason I was asking. And to help promote the book, I'm going to import the images into Moviemaker (it looks like) and then export 1/3 of the Moviemaker book to "You Tube" (they accept the Moviemaker format). On "You Tube", I will give out the book's website where the general public can get more info on how to purchase and see the remainder of the book. Having said that, let me know if there is anything else I should know in terms of making a successful conversion with Inkscape (PNG) to an e-book, DVD, hardbound book (or even possibly video-on-demand).
In response to your note about looking for PNG with alpha-transparency, how do I know if Moviemaker has that or not? I don't know what that is.
P.S. Just double-checking -- you oversee this site as noted by the title next to your screen name?

I would just try it, if you already have a copy of it. If you don't yet have a copy, maybe email Moviemaker support or ask on a forum.[/quote]
I don't know what that is.
Wikipedia as an example of PNG transparency on the top right - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_Network_Graphics

That's correct

Re: Inkscape & Creating Multimedia Projects
Yes, I have a copy of Moviemaker - - it came with my Compaq laptop. I imported the text/images to Moviemaker as PNG's with a WHITE background and they look great! The next test will be uploading this up to "You Tube" as well as onto a DVD to see if it all translates correctly. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Thank you again for taking the time to respond to my post -- I GREATLY appreciate it!
