Try searching for 'Inkscape tutorial globe' (or ball or sphere or orb). Because basically what you need is the sphere. Also look in my signature for links to a couple of collections of tutorials.

Unless you are talking about a full, regular size globe, with fairly detailed maps/images with proper radial perspective? In that case, you may be looking for a filter or extension. Unfortunately I am not familiar with any such "special" features. But others might, so please be patient, they will reply
