In version 0.91
I see that the space bar now pans without the mouse being down. A bit annoying for me, so is there a way to customize/turn this off?
I am using a Wacom tablet and it becomes difficult to zoom in when this auto pan is on.
Thanks!

Re: Space Bar and Panning v0.91
Hhmm......
I don't know which preference of mine is causing this, but I'm not seeing this new panning behavior. As soon as I press the Space bar, I can no longer move my mouse (cursor)! Maybe it's something in Windows, because I have the same behavior outside of Inkscape. So like even in my browser, typing this reply -- as soon as I press the Space bar, the mouse is frozen! Or maybe it's even a mouse setting.....somehow??
I also don't use, or know much about using a tablet. How do you normally zoom with the Wacom, and how does the new panning behavior affect it?

Re: Space Bar and Panning v0.91
When using the SELECTOR, I normally zoom in and out by using CONTROL+SPACE and CONTROL+SHIFT+SPACE which is the way Illustrator does it.
So now with the auto-pan when SPACE is pressed, if I move my mouse in the slightest, zooming is difficult since the auto-panning (panning when mouse is NOT down) then disables the zoom in/out.
In my mind the panning should not disable the CONTROL+SPACE zooming functions.

According to the release notes:
which suggests that it's no longer available as a preference. Personally I'm also finding it to be terribly annoying, because I frequently press SPACE to toggle back and forth to the selection tool, usually while my mouse is mid-motion. Now that gets interpreted as a pan, so not only do I not get my desired effect of toggling modes, but I often have to re-position the canvas back to where it was.
I'd love a preference to turn this "feature" back off again!

Re: Space Bar and Panning v0.91
Just a note to point out that there is a bug filed to add an option to disable space-bar panning. I've commented with an alternative solution that should address my own problems with it, but that solution probably wouldn't help with the OP's graphics tablet woes. I suggest the OP (or anyone else experiencing similar problems) should probably add a note to the issue as well, to ensure that the devs are aware of the range of effects this change is having.

I'm too. Perhaps this feature can be declared in the keyboard shortcuts, so anyone can decide to use it or not.
