Viewing SVG files as thumbnails in Windows 10

Postby mystyg » Thu Jan 19, 2017 6:47 am

I recently upgraded to Windows 10. Whenever I am in inkscape and I go to open a svg file it only shows the icon rather than the thumbnail. I have hundreds of inkscape files and I often need to browse to see which file I would like to open. Currently I am having to open each svg individually and it is taking an exorbitant amount of time. I downloaded the dssee extension but that hasn't resolved the issue. If I go directly to the folder I can see the thumbnails of the svg files, but I prefer to go through inkscape to view these files. Any suggestions?

For me, there's a checkbox in the 'Open File' dialog in Inkscape, that allows me to see a preview. Maybe that checkbox isn't there on Windows? (I'm on Linux).

I have the option, but only get icons in the preview, so maybe I need that addn'l program for windoze?
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

To see the preview in Inkscape's Open dialog, in Windows, you need to go:

Inkscape Preferences > Interface > Windows > Desktop Integration > GTK open/save dialogs

Not sure what "dssee extension" is?
