How to cut a photo based on the borders of a vectorial object

Postby ef91 » Mon May 22, 2017 8:17 pm

Hi everyone,

my name is Enrico, I'm 25 years old and I work for a web agency in Italy.
Pleasure to know you and thankful for anyone that will help me out with this question:

I have a photo and a vector element and I'd like to cut the image along the borders of the vector element.

I've tried already this solution (https://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/quick-tip-what-are-clipping-and-masking-in-inkscape--vector-24947) but it doesn't seem to work when you use a vector element instead of a shape.

The attached image is what I'm working with.

Thank you for your time
Enrico

Welcome to the forum, Enrico.
What do you mean by vector element? A circle, a rectangle, a closed path or an unclosed path or several paths?
I don't see an attached image... could you please try to attach again?
Win7/64, Inkscape 0.92.2
