problem with function plotter extension

Postby Antony41 » Thu Sep 09, 2010 6:12 am

I would like to plot a sine function.
In order to get that I have to type sin(x) in the function field.
This gives me a problem because I cannot enter the brackets.
The shift key does not work. So instead of a entering a ( sign, I am entering a 9.

What am I doing wrong?

Do you get 9 in other applications too when using Shift on it? Or does it only happen in Inkscape?

Can you use Shift + click to add objects to a selection, this checks if Shift is recognized within Inkscape?

Getting 9 when using shift on it only happens in Inkscape.
Shift + click to add objects to a selection is no problem.
However I now found out that the shift is also does not work within the text tool.

So the problem seems to be text related only. What could be the cause of this?

P.S.: I also have problems with the ctrl + A hotkey. It does not always work. Often the tool is changed to the spray can.
Then I have to use the edit menu, which does work. I am using Inkscape 0.48

A is the shortcut to Spray tool, so this means that your Ctrl key isn't recognized. And as it seems Shift too in some cases. It's weird this only happens in Inkscape. Try asking on the dev mailing list or in the inkscape IRC.

thank you very much prkos,

When I installed Inkscape 0.48 I did not close all windows (on my Windows computer).
I thought that should not be a problem. So when no problem was found with Inkscape, I uninstalled Inkscape. And installed it again. From then on I haven't had any problems. Thanks again.

Today my problem returned. With both the spray tool and the shift key.

So it was not caused by the installation.

do you perhaps have a foreign language installed? if yes, you have to turn it back to english or some shortcuts aren't recognized.
also do you have by any chance an autohotkey script running?

thank you sfranky,

I use the Dutch language. Now I have changed that to English but the problems remain.

As far as I know I do not have an autohotkey script running.

My problems started when I replaced Inkscape 0.47 with Inkscape 0.48.
