I can't seem to draw a simple line that has the same line thickness from the beginning to the end. Nor can I use the calligraphy pen without the end of the line terminating correctly.

I've hunted for controls to help me fix this without success. perhaps I'm seeing some sort of bug.

The image below depicts two short lines drawn with the pencil and on one line drawn with the calligraphy pen.

There is an option on the toolbar when the Pen/Pencil tools are selected to choose a shape to apply to the path. Set that to None.
