Printing finished work
Printing finished work
Hi! I have been using Inkscape for the last couple months and have really enjoyed using and getting to know the program. However, I'm running into the problem of pixelation when I print my finished work. I am a part-time secretary at my church and am trying to print a nice 8x10 cover for our monthly church bulletin. The cover looks great on the computer, but when I print it, it comes out very pixelated and looks awful. I would expect this problem from having to stretch the resolution of the images, but I actually had to make the images smaller to make them work for an 8x10 piece of paper. Help!
Re: Printing finished work
Hi.
Make sure your work is actually vector.
Like, embedding a raster image into an svg won't make it scalable without pixelation.
Inkscape works at 90 dpi, screen displays can vary on resolution -for examle a regular laptop screen is around 100 dpi-.
While printing is usually 300 dpi at least.
Thus to have the svg printed, save to pdf instead of exporting to a raster image.
If you are using filter effects as well, set a resolution higher than 300 dpi.
