I had been working on an image which includes many lines snapped to the grid. I reopened the file and now the grid lines are in different locations. That is, they are not aligned with the lines that I previously drew. Does anyone know how to keep the grid lines aligned with your image?

Is this mismatch only when you're zoomed out? What happens when you zoom in tight?

Have you checked your grid setting inside Document properties? Is everything ok there?

Yes, even at maximum zoom they are misaligned.

When I originally made the image, I drew a number of lines and things and then selected all of them and clicked "Fit page to selection" and saved it. That must be what messed up the grid alignment, because now the left edge of the grid is aligned with a piece of text that was the left-most piece of the image I created, while the vertical lines that I had snapped to the grid are now misaligned. Do you know of a way that I can crop the image the way I described while preserving the grid alignment?

Possibly you had resized the page to drawing or selection last time before saving? This does not adjust the grid origin(s) as expected (known issue which will be addressed in the upcoming bug-fix release Inkscape 0.48.3).

How do I apply this update? I'm running Ubuntu.
