Saving the picture and using the file

Postby msparkland1 » Sun May 22, 2011 12:17 pm

Hey guys, I have a few questions about saving and using the image.
I was wondering how to save the picture. The only way I know how is to save it within the little "page" area in the center of the screen when you're using inkscape. Is there some other way to save it so that you're only saving the image, not the entire "page" thing, so that when I upload into stuff like HTML i don't have to cut off parts of the image?

Which leads me to another question. How do I embed the svg file into HTML?
The <embed> code seems to work, but are there any other ways? I've heard of the <img> thing, but was told not to use that. Any suggestions?

Hi msparkland1,
Only the part of the image that is inside the page border will show, when you upload it. So you could move the parts you're not using outside the border. Or you could select the part you want to show, and use Document Properties > Page tab > Page Size > Orientation > Custom Size > Resize page to content. This will move the page border to include only what's selected.

I don't know much about html, and part of what I do know, is using the IMG tag. So hopefully someone else can answer that part. Or you might have a look at the Inkscape and the Web forum. I know this question has been asked (but I don't remember the answer). If it's not there, try searching the entire forum.
