Help about inserting values ...

Postby madaeon » Fri May 31, 2013 2:21 am

Hi,
I a newbie question, that is anyway really making me mad about it:
I create shapes, ie squares, then on the top bar I insert manually the position (x and Y) and seize (x and y) since I nedd precise values for my shapes, I am making a vector file for a laser cutter.
But here comes the problem: if for example, the x position is "6,500" mm and I enter the text "5,000" and press enter, it does not change the value to "5,000", but to some value in the middle, like "6,300". If I enter then again the value "5,00" it does change to almost 5, but if I click again later on the shape it often is not still 5 but 5,03, or something like that.
How is this possible? Am I doing something wrong?
Please help me..

thanks,
Davide

Welcome aboard!
That bar is set to display the visual bounding box's data by default.
You can set that to geometric bounding box at the preferencies panel called by pressing Shift+Ctrl+P.
Probably you have an outline set to 0,6mm?
Less likely the object is snapping to the grid.

That's in the Tools tab.
