print ready 300ppi

Postby tom445 » Fri Jan 07, 2011 2:44 am

There seems to be no way possible to make illustrations in Inkscape that are print ready (300dpi or better). I have spent the last year creating 33 pages for a childrens picture book and I have (2) different piblishers telling me that all my (PDF)illustrations are only 72 dpi (even though the Inkscape program is telling me the PDF are 300 dpi)

I am absolutrly stessed out and sick at the thought of throwing away 12 months worth of work and having to start all over with something like Abobe illustrator.

Does anyone have any idea on (1) how the verify the dpi of any PDF pages I create, and (2) and setting I may need to make of the page to insure the pages are actually print ready?

Getting a true "print ready" PDF from Inkscape seems to be the difficult and challanging hurdle to cross! For example, I already know that you cannot use blurring effect or any filtering effect on a print ready illustration.

Please help!!

100% of the profits from the sell of this book are going to support a mission work in Kenya and I do want to let the team down!

Tom

Hi.

What software did you use to create your pdf file? I assume that software might have overrided the dpi settings in the exported png file (or whatever file format you saved to).
