hello
I'm new to the forum have a question on the use of Inkscape. I have drawn a rosette. It's easy. Now I want to alternately black and white to color in the individual fields. Not possible with the paint bucket. How can I make it? How can I split each field into objects?
Thanks and regards

Re: Black and white with out baint bucket
Hi.
Probably you drawn the shape with many open paths via the freehand pencil tool?
Without any further explanation I suggest to look at this topic:

Maybe read this as well:

Re: Black and white with out baint bucket
Hi
Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately my problem is not described. Maybe I have time to describe what I did.
- Drawn circle
- Created with the tool "creat Tiled Clone" the rosette
- "Unlinke Clone" trent up the connections
and now I want the rosette colored like a chessboard.
With the paint bucket that works quite well but unfortunately the corners are not filled properly. So my question is whether it is not better off for it are.

Re: Black and white with out baint bucket
Try the following:
Draw a rectangle that covers all the circles,
select all objects and duplicate them (Ctrl+D).
Then, perform path exlusion.
Break apart the resulting path (Ctrl+Shift+K), and group the paths together (Ctrl+G).
Enter the group by double clicking on it (or by pressing Ctrl+Enter when selected),
and delete the two largest paths -the rectangle one and the one that looks as the union of the circles-.
Exit the group (Ctrl+Backspace), delete the original rectangle (Delete), select all objects except the group
-rectangle select all then Shift+Click on the group-
and do an exclusion just as previously.
After that, select all, ungroup object (Ctrl+Shift+G),
and you can add any kind of colour to all the small bits through the fill and stroke panel
(Shift+Ctrl+F).

Thank Lazur
Your tips and hints have helped me a lot. It is intresting that I have so far found nothing comparable.
Lest I forget the procedure I have written a small tutorial and would like to publish it here. Maybe it helps someone else once.
Maybe someone can correct my bad English. (The tutorial I've also loadedup as ODS file.)

Re: Black and white with out baint bucket
Thinking it over again, I wouldn't use the exclusion.
Somehow I can't get the key shortcut of it to work.
Another way would be, selecting all the circles,
combining them together (Ctrl+K),
then opening the fill and stroke panel (Shift+Ctrl+F, if not open already),
changing the fill rule to even-odd,
then, if objects would be better separated,
pressing Ctrl++ and Ctrl+Shift+K.
Some notes on your pdf:
though the image shows clear, it would be clear to put "rotation center" instead.
Clone and duplicant are two different kinds, maybe it better changed to smoething clearer.
Not so sure about what exactly you mean by that.
Different parameters would lead to a wide variety of designs?
circle:=circuit, selected:=marked.
Would note that after making the tiled clones, the parent object is still selected, and can be deleted -which results in all the clones losing their links.
My German is not that good, but the key shortcut tells it all.
Anyway, for different kind of rosettes, you may also try the spyrograph extension.
For example a collection from Brynn:

Good luck!

With the "Tiled Clone" tool now may the circle
be duplicated.

Here's an example. With the parameters can
experementieren something arise again and
again new effects.

The original circuit must now be deleted.
If the object is not marked, it can also improve
the transfer found the following extent.
Edit -> Clone -> Select Orginal and then Delet

circle:=circuit, selected:=marked.

Makiere das ganze Obkjekt und benutze "Bracke
Apart" um die Wege aufzutrennen. (Shift+Ctrl-
K)

Hi
Thanks again for the help and the tips.
I think I'll write the tutorial better first in German and then translated by someone to english:-)
The second method you mentioned I've also tried it and it works fine.
I have made two attempts and found the following. See attachement.
To make the effect more visible this time I have taken a rectangle.
Beim ersten Beispiel ist das Rotationszentrum in der Mitte des Objektes.
If you turn on "exclusion" applies, nothing happens. This is something surprising for me.
In the second example the center of rotation is slightly off center, but still within the object.
After "exclusion" was executed, artifacts remain from the paths. I have here something wrong or is this a bug in the program?
I have found a link with an additional possibility rosettes or create mandalas.
