Snap Guides While Dragging

Postby brynn » Sat Jul 05, 2008 4:01 pm

Hello again :D
I'm trying to use the Snap Guides While Dragging setting, but can't seem to get it to snap. I've searched at Launchpad, but don't find any Bugs about it.

And I know the Tooltip in the Doc Properties dialog says that only a small area of Guide near the cursor will snap. But I've got the cursor directly above the node (snapping to Nodes) when I grab the Guide (horizontal guide). And I move the Guide with the cursor, so that the cursor passes directly over the node (dragging the Guide with it), but no snap :(

I've read what the tavmjong Manual has on Guides and Snapping, and it comments that the outermost node (or bounding box) is the node the guide should snap to. So I've checked all the nodes, which lie in a straight, horizontal line, to make sure one is not slightly higher than the others. But they all have the exact same Y value. I've also tried the leftmost and rightmost of these nodes (thinking should there be several nodes, maybe one side has the priority for snapping).

But I can't seem to get the Guide to Snap to the node. Can anyone else get this feature to work? Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks for you help, as always, I appreciate any comments :D

Make sure, in your document properties, under the Guides tab you enable "Snap guides while dragging" and under the Snap tab you enabled "Snap to nodes".

Yes, that's how I have the settings configured.

I'm having other problems with snapping, though, which may be related. PLease see this topic viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1238
