undocked dialog box: align objects box

Postby tpearson16 » Mon Jul 23, 2012 10:10 am

hey, I was working on an inkscape project and I was rearranging the 'fill and stroke' box and the 'align objects' box in their dock on the right side of my screen. I accidentally undocked the 'align objects' box, so now it opens up in its own window, even on a new project. anyone know how re-dock it?

thanks,

Torsten

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

Yes, it can be a little tricky. You have to grab the dialog window with the mouse, NOT by its titlebar, but by the gray bar just below the titlebar. Drag it over to the docking area. When you get close enough, you'll see the shadow of the docking area open, and at that point, you can drop it.....unless you already have a docked dialog open. If so, drop it on that dialog's gray bar. It depends where on that bar that you drop it, as to how the dialogs are arranged. If you drop it on the left side, you'll get dialogs docked side by side instead of top to bottom. And this is with 0.48.1. It may be slightly different in different versions, but generally it's the same process with all versions. See the manual: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... atomy-Dock for details, because I think there is even yet another configuration for the docks.

Let us know how it goes :D
