Apply Gradient to Path?

Postby MrRezister » Sun Nov 03, 2013 2:56 am

Hello, I am a new user to Inkscape and also fairly new to Vector Graphics.

I am intending to use Inkscape to create printable fantasy maps for use in a game campaign I intend to run for some friends, and I am trying to achieve a particular effect.

If I want to fade an object either in or out starting from the edges, is there a way to do that with the included tools? In some applications, I believe this effect is referred to as an "Angular Gradient".

Specifically I am working on a world map and am trying to use this effect to create a continental shelf under the mainland that seems to drop off into the depth of the ocean. If anyone has an idea how I might achieve this I would appreciate the input!

Thanks!

Hello,
Could you link to an image of example?

Just guessing: Use the mask tool:

If you have problems:
1.- Post a sample (or samples) of your file please.

Hi-

If you are looking for additional tips, tricks or help with your mapping, have you checked out http://www.cartographersguild.com ? There are a number of folks there using Inkscape including myself.
