I'm getting some weird behaviour with a perspective. I've got a logo and text (all converted to paths and grouped) and when I draw the four node polygon, and select both objects (polygon last) and choose Modify Path -> Perspective, I get a weird perspective not matching my polygon.
The result is also displaced to a position not even close to my polygon shape. I've had this in the past and fixed it by ungrouping and regrouping the path objects to be transformed. But in this case I'm working on now, that doesn't seem to fix it.
I then tried it with a simple star shaped path and the perspective still was wonky.
So I opened a new Inkscape document, checked with the star shape again and it worked fine. So I cut and pasted the logo object into that new document and tried it out. But still it's wonky. Not so displaced, but still not the right perspective. Not matching my perspective polygon at all.
Is there some setting in my document that would be affecting the perspective effect? I've ungrouped everything and made sure all objects are paths, and then re-grouped them for the transformation, but still it's a no-go.
Any ideas what is going on here?

Have you watched this tutorial? Apparently your reference polygon needs to be created in a special order (in regards to the nodes).
Note: This is an older tutorial, in .46 the order for selecting the target and the reference is reversed. (What you're doing now is correct)

You're gonna laugh, but I created that tutorial!

Actually in the last little bit I was able to get it to work somehow. I ungrouped *everything* down into it's component paths and then tested each. Then regrouped them pair by pair and kept testing perspective along the way. In the final grouping I crossed my fingers and it worked!
I'm suspecting the weird behaviour has something to do with grouping order. The groups of paths were a few levels deep (groups of groups type of thing). Maybe that causes the problem.

Oh crap, didn't notice your name!!
Your problem sounded just like a node order mistake. (Or maybe just to the untrained ear...
)
Ok, I tried it out myself. I made some paths and some texts and pathed it all (3 objects total), and grouped them in different ways.
-Group of three objects=Fine
-Group of a group (of two) and another object=Fail (One of the shapes in the lower group gets placed weird)
So it seems like you're right Richard.
Edit: And then it stopped doing it...
Is Inkscape haunted??
